MESA, Ariz. — If your classic Impala tends to wander down the road or the steering feels loose and sloppy, it’s time to replace your steering box. And now you can choose from OEM or fast-ratio power steering for your 1958-76 full-size Chevrolet with steering boxes from Impala Bob’s.Customers can order online or call 1-800-IMPALAS (1-800-467-2527).
For 1959-64 Impalas, the remanufactured OEM-style steering box retains the stock 22:1 ratio and is priced at $249.99. An integral steering box, which can be used for converting from manual steering, features a 14:1 ratio and is priced at $419.88 or $569.88 in a kit that also includes a pitman arm, center link and idler arm. For manual steering conversions, a pump kit that includes pump, brackets, pulleys and belt is priced at $319.88.
For 1965-76 Impalas, a remanufactured steering box featuring the OEM steering ratio is priced at $249.99. A new — not remanufactured — Delphi steering box is available with a 14:1 or 12.7 ratio and is priced at $579.88. The fast-ratio steering box can also be used to convert from manual steering.
“Whether you prefer the feel of the OEM power steering or want a faster ratio, a new steering box can make your Impala more responsive in turns and track straighter on the highway,” said Impala Bob’s President Bob Antebi. “It’s not only a worthwhile safety upgrade, but it makes driving more enjoyable.”
