Author: Michael Nowak (mnowak955@aol.com) I ordered this book so I could see the installation of the 1964 Impala 4 door doors and windows. These items are not even shown or mentioned in my manual. This book was little help for my restoration job. I do not know if this section is missing or GM origally did not include it.
Author: Impala Bob's Customer Support Michael - Thanks for your feedback! The Assembly Manual will typically show reprints of the exploded view diagrams that were used as a reference at various stations on the Chevrolet assembly line. They will not offer too much in the way of the specific assembly instructions you may be looking for, though. For detailed information on disassembly, repair, and reassembly of your Impala, we would highly recommend the "Shop Manuals". They include a Body section, with very detailed instructions and photos for assembling the door and window mechanisms inside your doors. They are an invaluable "how to" reference for many phases of your Chevy restoration project. In your case, you would need to get items #D1208 (1961 Shop Manual) and #D1214 (1964 Shop Manual Supplement). You would need to get both books to have the complete reference material for your Impala, as GM did not publish a stand-alone 1964 Chevrolet Shop Manual. The 1964 Supplement by itself will not be as helpful, as it will only show things that would be different from the 1961 Shop Manual. Good luck with your restoration project.
